Artist Statement

I am fascinated by the space between what is real and what might be. To get lost between darkness and light, beauty and unease, chaos and control. My paintings explore these contrasts through imagined worlds and stories that don't always have clear endings.

My process begins with a little surrender. I rarely approach a canvas with a finished image in mind. Instead, I invite disorder. I pour, smear, scrape, and push paint around. Gravity and chance play their parts. These messy beginnings become the foundations of my work.

Then I sit with what I've created. I look for shapes, moods, and possibilities. Eventually, something reveals itself. A figure, a creature, or an idea begins to emerge. From there, I bring it into focus, balancing the spontaneity of the background with carefully rendered imagery.

I'm drawn to the mysterious, the beautiful, and the slightly unsettling. I love the peculiar. I like that wonder and darkness can exist together. That a painting can suggest a story without telling the whole thing.

Ultimately, I'm creating places that don't quite exist, but perhaps could. I want viewers to get lost in them for a while.
